Skymatics complete confined space drone inspection.
THE CHALLENGE.
Skymatics were tasked to remotely inspect an underground storm water culvert on the Hinkley Point C site. The challenge was to utilise our confined space drone to inspect and capture high resolution imagery and video of the 400m long asset.
THE SOLUTION.
The existing culvert is around 3m deep underground, with live roads running straight over the top of it. Manhole access points are located along the culvert with a 600mm opening. As the culvert has a build up of silt within the channel, this rules out traditional methods like wheeled CCTV cameras. Our Elios 3 drone is specifically designed for situations like this. Removing the need for the asset to be jetted before it could be traditionally inspected. Or even sending operatives in to the potentially dangerous confined space.
The Elios 3 is an amalgamation of technology, working in harmony to provide detailed confined space inspection and survey results. With a LiDAR unit, 4K camera which includes thermal, proprietary lighting and very clever software to assist the Remote Pilot in safely navigating complex spaces in real-time, all wrapped in a protective cage. This drone is revolutionising the way inspections are being conducted, especially in high risk environments where we can remove the need for placing humans in harms way.
THE RESULTS.
